TIPS and TRICKS

make your x-lite even more portable: RealaCC gimbal/Screen Protector

The Taranis X-lite brings a whole new level of portability to FPV transmitters thanks to its compact design and I found this to be one of the most surprisingly useful features of this controller in my review.

The x-lite comes with a very nice lightweight zipcase as you can see in the picture below which allows you to stow some spare parts too. For quick FPV missions though I find all I need is the controller though but the gimbal protectors that come with the controller are just too loose to stay put if I put the controller in my bag without the case. Hence I've been on www.3dhubs.com/he lookout for some gimbal protectors that not only hold more snugly but also protect the screen. There are a number of designs already avilable on thingiverse if you have a 3d printer or access to 3dhubs but what if you just want to buy a cheap solution that does this for you?

Stock case is very nice but uneccesary for me

My X-lite with the realacc gimbal and screen protector
The RealACC Stick Rocker Protector & Screen Guard For FrSky Taranis X-Lite meets these needs for me. It is a 3d printed gimbal and screen protector that is sold on Banggood for just $5. In hand the 3 print is rather coarse but is good quality and feels light yet sturdy. It grips snugly to the sticks and does a good job of protecting the screen and menu control nub. In practice this means I can now put the controller into my flight bag as all the key parts are protected. The aux switches that are usually delicate in other controllers are much more robust on the x-lite because they are much shorter and I expect them to hold up just fine.

It's probably not going to be a lot of use to you have you have wider or narrower aftermarket stick ends but if you want to transport your controller without the bag like me it's a simple $5 decision.

Re-purposed to fit my $300 goggles rather than my $120 Tx. More relevant to keep spares with goggles too.

Hi johnnie

Thanks for the feedback. I left mine behind at a park and ordered another exactly the same - that's how much I like it
