As we all know by now the WL Toys 144001 (and 124018 / 124019 by extension) is a budget copy of LC Racing EMB-1 that utilises cheaper materials and electrical components to make it a lower cost offering. LC Racing spares for the EMB series are surprisingly cheap - often cheaper than the WL toys parts. In the list below I've made it clear which parts are a direct fit and which parts will fit with a little modification. Link below are to the AliExpress store that I trust - they have been running successfully for over 7 years and will ship worldwide. You may of course have other options locally like Troy Remy in Canada (find him in the QuadifyRC Group), Warren RC in USA, RCMart out of Hong Kong and direct from LC Racing themselves. Body Parts

Axles are what I'm hoping to see here soon. I'd love to ditch the 3mm/M3 shafts for 4mm/M4 and I really would like to avoid axle extenders. I'm pretty new to the 124019 crowd, so maybe I'm missing something that is already available. I absolutely love this site. It's been very helpful so far. Thank you for all the hard work.

I wish there were some axle extenders that did the job properly. I've tried a few and you can only get them kinda half working and even that required a lot spit and glue. Sigh.

I found some 3 to 4mm conversion parts for the WLtoys A959, but most of the reviews say that they were better off with the original 3mm parts for durability even. I've got some 1/16 parts for a Hosim Q903 that lost a battle with a Cadillac Escalade that I may get around to trying eventually. The axles on it are 4mm and some of quite a few parts that survived being run over. If I have any luck I'll follow up.

Hi Michael, thanks for the feedback. A few have been working on this but the M3 shafts seem to be easier. The LC racing parts should be a direct drop in, I just need to confirm.

Awesome! I appreciate the response. If I remember correctly, there are a couple of videos on YouTube that compare the 2 buggies, but I'm not sure how detailed they are. Just a heads up, the Phat Bodies Zero just dropped today on the Phat Bodies site. It's a rally car body for the 124019, 124018, and LC Racing EMB 12B1. 😎

I went ahead and got a Hammer body to kind of practice on first. It will be my first RC body paint job. I'll get the Zero body once Warren RC has it in stock. That's where I got the Hammer body from. I live in the US, shipping took 3 days, and it was about $23 USD.

Hi Mike. Unfortunately the diffs are very different. different number of teeth and I think pitch as well. My recommendation is to use the stock diffs and shim like they have done in the 124019 I reviewed. Then pack with grease. Outside of the CVDs and dogbones the drive components and very different.

I have to say, owning three cars with these diffs in use 144001, 124018, 124019. I havent had any problem with the diffs at all, even bashing fairly hard on 3s they all seem fine. The only issue is the outcups that wear eventually, but they are so easy and cheap to replace I don't see an issue.

25/6/2021 10:45:06 am
Replacing the cups is easy? What about the pesky 2 MM flat head screws?! In most cases, they need a lot of heat to loosen too much thread lock.

25/6/2021 07:27:55 pm
Not had a problem with any of them and I've changed multiple. Maybe a bit more time in the gym Kodak, or less time spent trying to convince everyone on rc forums that these cars aren't hobby grade, either one should improve your chances. 24/6/2021 11:07:12 pm
Can you confirm that the diffs from the 144001, 124018 and 124019 are the same as the 12428? I have recently seen a diff that uses a metal housing is available for the newest buggies, but it does not include the 12428 in its description. I don't know if that is an oversight or if it will NOT work in the 12428 and its siblings 12427, 12423 and 12429. Thanks.

I don't know sorry, I only had a 12428 for a brief period but had too many issues so moved on. What I do know is that I have tried 2 sets of different upgrade diff parts for the 144001 and the do not fit. From the review comments on BG it says they fit the 12428 instead but I cannot confirm

Thanks! Unfortunately the top deck in both plastic and carbon fibre is different - holes are in different locations

If I were to replace the plastic upper deck, it would be aluminum. I think CF is over- rated. If the “metal” chassis is too thin and tends to flex, an aluminum upper plate would stiffen it a great deal.
Alex
23/8/2021 06:17:09 pm
is there any aluminum alternative to that part without the "deepening" where the default ESC sits? I'm trying to do a build, where the lipo sits on the top deck, so i don't need this deepening. (sorry for my english, i'm no native speaker :)

If you want to mount the battery on top of the upper deck, do you have an alternative body that will take the extra height? The truggy body sits higher or maybe the short course body will work, but the mounts and shock mounts will need to go with whatever you decide on. It’s not going to be a simple one for one swap.

yeah, i got Atak from phat bodies, which is taller than the standard body. i attach it with Velcro. There should be enough space for the lipo, but i don't like the "gap" on the top deck

I think I’ve seen a three piece upper deck in aluminum. The middle section can sit lower than the front and rear pieces. I don’t have one and am only going by what I remember seeing. Even if you went that way, the middle would only be lower by the thickness of the aluminum unless you used spacers to lower it even more. Then, the limiting factor would be the driveshaft. Using Velcro eliminates losing pins. Nice.

This website has saved me more than once. Thank you for a straight forward, honest look at cars. I especially liked the 2s vs 3s article and how high kv motors are just for bragging rights. I was wondering if you were ever going to be able to finish the LC racing compatibility article. Even though they’re Chinese I find their parts to be higher quality. Thanks again for all the great content.

Members of an LC Racing forum have been looking for better alternatives for EMB-1 parts such as stronger CVDs, and suspension and steering joints with less clearance, to replace the very same parts that WLToys owners are fitting as upgrades. How ironic!

After all of that, are you convinced it’s a necessary thing to do? Bearings are a tad bigger, but is it worth jumping through so many hoops?

Necessary? probably not. However, when I have had parts fail, I usually try to improve on them. As they say, you can't repeat the same thing and expect a different result.

Hi, I know this is a bit off topic but would you happen to know if the LC racing EMB differentials fit the Losi Mini 8ight? I know they are very similar cars but just like the WLTOYS versions not all parts are interchangeable between them. Thanks for your guides, you have started my obsession of 1/14 scale buggies! Keep up the good work

I've never owned a mini 8ight but I'd be very supervised if they did fit. A pleasure, these little cars a great fun and don't need a big space to run.

Quadify - Thanks for all the tips, I have completed the brushless upgrades etc which made a BIG difference to WLTOYS clone (Rlaarlo) 1:14 buggies. Question - do you have any experience with stronger chassis for WLTOYS 144001 - do LC Racing fit ? or any others that are stronger, my boys always seem to bend them at the front and hard to re-align correctly so driveshaft alignment is perfect.. Thanks.

I have both, the battery tray holes are definitely not the same, the rest of the holes look like they probably line up and the chassis on the LC has held its shape better than the WL toys through lots of crashes with my 3 &5 year olds driving the WL and me on the LC... the LC crashes less but goes faster.
