These budget 1.0 inch wheels and tyres are well made with a beadlock rim, wide realistic high grip tyres and a nice weight to them that will help drop the centre of gravity on your crawler truck
For this quick review I'm looking at a set of low-cost crawler wheels and tyres for a 1/18-1/24 scale RC crawler truck. These feature a sturdy beadlock system where and inner an outer rim held together b 6 small screws force the tyre beads between the rim and a beadlock collar so the tyre cannot slip. Although the included screws are small and fiddly this result in an excellent locking system superior to what you can get with CA glue, especially given tyres are so soft. Tyre inner foam is also included. I built these using the included tools only and used my brushless Furitek FX118 for the build
Furitek FX-118Â 1/18 RTR Review: BRUSHLESS POWER IS NOT EVEN THE BEST PART for this Crawler29/10/2023 The Furitek FX-118 RTR Brushless Crawler is simply the most capable RTR crawler you can buy. Features like the brushless power train, suspension adjustability and portal axles make this unlike any other crawler in this scale
Furitek are a new brand for me personally but after talking to my good friend and regular QuadifyRC contributor Geoffrey Chan, I've been enlightened on their activity in supplying aftermarket parts for 1/18 crawlers, especially for the 1/18 Traxxas TRX-4M where they practically rule the roost. Specifically their brushless ESC and motors and gearboxes come highly regarded but also their frame kits for extra suspension mounting options. The FX118 RTR has allowed them to bring all of this know-how together to create the ultimate RTR crawler. Read on for my review.
The WPL C24 Waterproof 1/16 2.4G 4WD Crawler RTR Truck Is a highly realistic 1/16 scale radio “crawler” RC truck. I considered the original release my best bang for buck crawler owing to it's price, capability and scale look. This new release from WPL is being touted as waterproof, something that sets it apart from the standard edition. If this is true, this will really add to the kind of heavy off-roading courses you can run with these low speed powerful trucks. If you are not already familiar with crawlers, they are a subset of RC cars that run at much slower speeds with a lot more torque and rather than travelling around tracks at speed, they are design for traversing rough terrain (like a full sale 4x4) with a scale look. Although the WPL C24 Waterproof has a fairly basic plastic build in order to achieve it's relatively low price point, there is a massive amount of upgrades available - everything from wheel weights for more grip to metal 2 speed gearboxes to larger diffs and of course grippier tyres. As you'll see from my review that follows though you'll realise that this truck performs great out of the box as is and will give you a great feel for crawling in all conditions (including water) with a minimal outlay.
FMS (Also known as ROCHobby) are the makers of beautiful RC Scale models in low speed crawler style. The 1:12 scale Type82e KommandeurWagen which is a variant of the Volkswagen Beetle, is their latest and the attention to detail on this model is simply amazing. This car is a departure from the increasingly fast RC cars I've been reviewing recently. Instead with the Kommandeurwagen speed and power is replaced with beautiful form and mechanical function in true scale detail. In simple terms this is a fully proportional scale crawler with immaculate detail, a 2 speed gearbox and scale lighting with all controls from the transmitter. There are many more functions which I'll discuss more below but first lets looks at the key features and what's included.
The WPL C24 1/16 2.4G 4WD Crawler Truck Is a highly realistic 1/16 scale radio “crawler” RC truck. It has proportional steering and throttle (forward and reverse) and has a huge list of upgradable parts making it a legitimately hobby grade vehicle. Being a crawler it runs at low speed but is very powerful = this in combination with 4wd, grippy tyres and large suspension range makes it very capable in scaling obstacles. Best of all it is extremely cheap - less than $50 with everything you need to run. In this article I will review this truck in full I usually like an understated look but my boys don't. Tigers and other stickers were their idea 🤷♂️ The small scale crawler market has really taken off recently based on the following because they can be used in so many ways:
