Chu got back into the RC hobby after a 6 year break. After seeing the fun and value the WLToys 144001 offered, he jumped back down the rabbit hole of fully modifying it into the short course truck incarnation that is November's Car of the Month. The upgrades he's made to this car target handling and giving the 144001 more realistic SCT looks and driving dynamics. This is great example of how versatile the WLToys platform can be with reasonably priced mods that are fully drop-in to replace the original brushed setup. Chu's 144001 has since found a new home and I'm sure the new owner is enjoying it fully. Chu has since replaced the 144001 with an LC Racing EMB-SCT that may be another perfect subject to feature in the future. Where are you from?

Don't you have an 144001 SCT too RCFreak? I remember you telling us about your SCT. BTW do you have the LC Racing SCT wheels? If so, do you like 'em, and how do they grip/how soft are they, and are they the size of the LC Racing MT wheels?

Yes mine is very similar to be honest, I haven't used the LC racing wheels yet though! The short course shells from Remo fit perfect on a 144001.

Great SCT mod! We don't see very many of these around. Can Chu provide any feedback on the LC Racing SCT wheels? Do they grip well, are they soft, what is the diameter (can't find it on the web), and other thoughts? Thanks

Geoffrey has used them. Look great but a but harder. Not nearly as much grip as the Remos

Got it, thanks, I told you more about my decision in the email conversation. The 4 pack of Remos was re-stocked today on BG, $20 for 4 wheels, that's a pretty good value. Was just saving the SC wheels as a last ditch, no other wheels available, kind of thing. Also, we talk and praise the Remo wheels so much, but we've never mentioned the actual Remo truck that the Remo P6973s come on. How come? I'd like to hear your thoughts on that rig, seems at first glance like a decent budget offering. Leave a Reply. |
